Dr. Brent Bauer is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon. Dr. Bauer completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin prior to graduating from medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency training at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas where he trained primarily at Parkland Memorial Hospital, one of the nation’s busiest trauma centers. Following his residency training, Dr. Bauer completed an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore. Dr Bauer is proud to be one of the founding partners of Advent Healthcare.
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER / GENERAL COUNSEL
Clinton C. Black is currently acting as Chief Executive Officer and general Counsel at Advent Orthopaedics. Prior to returning to his native Texas, Mr. Black was a partner in a private legal practice in Louisiana. His legal work included both state and federal civil litigation at the trial and appellate levels. Transactions, Corporate Law, and Estate Planning were also a large part of his practice. Mr. Black received a BBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance from Baylor University in 1995. After graduating from Baylor, he attended law school at Wake Forest University, where he was a member of the Wake Forest Law Review and was inducted into the Order of The Coif. Mr. Black graduated second in his class, cum laude, with Honors. He is actively involved in his church and community, leading a Lifegroup at Antioch Waco and serving on the board of directors at his children’s school.

Dr. Ellis, a board-certified orthopaedic trauma surgeon, is a proud Texan and Baylor University alumnus. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Medicine and Biosciences College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kansas City, Missouri in 2001. He completed his residency training at Ohio University, St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, where he served as Chief Resident.
He is dual fellowship trained, having completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at the Texas Back Institute in Plano, Texas in 2007 and an Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas in 2008.
Orthopedic Spine Surgeon
Since 2009, Dr. Elders has served the greater central Texas community with his surgical and non-surgical expertise, specializing in the management of spinal trauma, spinal deformity, and adult degenerative disc conditions, offering the most innovative and minimally invasive techniques available. Dr. Elders continues to actively engage with global industry leaders in the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques and instrumentation.
When it comes to serving the local community, Dr. Elders focuses on a comprehensive team approach to patient care that puts patients first. His commitment to providing compassionate and comprehensive spinal care means he, and the entire Conroe team, consider your back pain a priority. Dr. Elders will work with you to find the least-invasive and most comfortable treatment plan to suit your needs.
After graduating Cum Laude from Washington State University with a degree in Biology, Dr. Jeff Blasick obtained his osteopathic medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. During his time at Kansas City University, Dr. Blasick was a member of the Psi Sigma Alpha National Honor Society and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Most recently, Dr. Blasick completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at Ohio University’s Affinity Medical Center in Massillon, Ohio. As a board-eligible general orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. Blasick can perform a variety of minimally invasive procedures ranging from carpal tunnel releases to arthroscopy to joint replacements.
Dr. Blasick is a welcome addition to the Advent team. He and his family have enjoyed getting to know their new home in Waco and spending as much time as they can outdoors.
Family Medicine / Direct Primary Care
Dr. Newman joined Advent Healthcare after three and a half years as medical director and clinic physician for Providence Express Care Clinics in Waco, Texas. He previously spent eight years serving as a family medicine physician at Rettig Family Health Care, Groesbeck, TX, where he also was Chief of Staff at Parkview Regional Hospital. Dr. Newman received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He graduated as a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine/University of North Texas Health Science Center at Ft. Worth. He completed his residency at East Tennessee State University College of Medicine where he served as Chief Resident from 2004-2005. At Advent Healthcare, Dr. Newman is directing the group’s Direct Primary Care practice.
ORTHOPAEDIC TRAUMA SURGEON
Dr. Justin Krajca is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon. He is originally from Dallas, Texas, and completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M University, receiving Foundation Honors and magna cum laude. He attended medical school at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where he was elected in to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He then moved to Florida and completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, University of Miami. Dr. Krajca finished his surgical training with an orthopaedic trauma fellowship at R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, a premier trauma institution in the country. Dr. Krajca joined Advent Orthopaedics in September 2014.
Dr. Zarling is fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Kansas and received a Master of Public Health from George Washington University. After graduating from The University of Chicago’s Prizter School of Medicine, he went on to Baylor College of Medicine for his residency. Most recently, Dr. Zarling completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York and has served as an assistant physician for The New York Jets Football Club, as well as NHL and NCAA hockey teams. Dr. Zarling specializes in treating sports-related injuries in addition to general orthopaedics.
Mid Level Providers
Ruben B. De La Rosa is a Physician Assistant out of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas where he graduated magna cum laude. While at UT Southwestern, he had the opportunity to train at Parkland Memorial Hospital, as well as at Zale Lipshy University Hospital and St. Paul University Hospital. Prior to attending UT Southwestern, Ruben completed his Bachelor’s degree at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, majoring in biomedical sciences. Ruben is a native of South Texas where he grow up along the Texas-Mexico border prior to moving to north Texas where he met and married his wife, Courtney.
Orthopaedic Surgery Nurse Practitioner
Kristen Hill works at Advent’s Waco location as an orthopaedic surgery nurse practitioner. Prior to earning a Master of Science in nursing from Baylor University, Kristen received undergraduate degrees in Spanish and nursing, also from Baylor. She has over 20 years of emergency room experience from her time as an RN with Providence Health Center and Premier ERPlus.
Kristen is bilingual in Spanish and a member of the Sigma Theta Tau Nursing Honor Society. When she is not in a medical setting, she continues to express her passion for working with people by volunteering at Mission Waco and as a track and field official.
