Sports medicine involves injuries obtained from sports or other physical activities. Common sport-related injuries include ACL sprains or tears, joint dislocations, and broken bones. Advent understands that athletes are passionate about getting back to their sport as soon as possible, and we are here to make sure that happens.
BACK IN THE GAME
Sports medicine doctors and knee specialists can distinguish between an injury that only requires physical therapy and preventative training, and a torn meniscus that requires surgical treatment. Treatment for an ACL injury will look completely different than recovering from a sprained knee.
Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a weekend warrior, knowing how to protect your knees from damage can mean the difference between a fulfilling lifestyle and long-term, strained mobility.
At Advent, our fellowship-trained sports surgeons specialize in recognizing injuries and determining their extent–do you have a sprain, or is there a fracture involved? Once the injury is diagnosed, our specialists will recommend the best treatment options. Many sports-related injuries can be handled with non-operative treatments like physical therapy; however, more serious injuries will require surgery. Through minimally invasive procedures and expert treatment, our sports medicine team will help get you up on your feet and back in the game.
We are a group of fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeons. Our mission is to partner with your health care facility to build and maintain trauma centers that are capable of providing the highest level of trauma care to patients injured in your community. Through this partnership, we will work with your hospital to create the infrastructure necessary to meet the trauma needs of your community, as well as to become a trauma referral center for your region. We will help your hospital provide world-class trauma care without the need to transfer patients away from your community. Your hospital will retain those cases that would otherwise be transferred out.
